...sign of our times...
Upon being handed a journal as a gift, a nine year-old asks his mom what it was. The mom says that it was a notebook to record his thoughts and feelings, every day. The kid replies, "You mean, it is a blog...on paper." Reader's Digest, Oct 2008 issueFaith, Belief, Conviction
These words used to confuse me. Over time, I have formed meaningful explanations for each.
Faith – A modicum of “blind belief” you need to have to continue forward.
Example – You need to keep sending out those resumes; you will get a job eventually.
“Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.
Belief – A practised thought. Or, a thought you keep thinking all the time.
Example – I am getting old every day. Aren’t you?
Conviction – Unshakable belief. You believe in its veracity, its “truthfulness.”
Example: A dead person cannot be brought back to life.
