Esther (Abraham) and Jerry Hicks

Abraham describes themselves (note the referent "themselves" is grammatically incorrect but does convey accurately) as "a group consciousness from the non-physical dimension" (huh?! what?). They have also said, "We are that which you are. You are the leading edge of that which we are. We are that which is at the heart of all religions."

A Quote: We would focus on everything that mattered to us. It is so satisfying to hold a thought and to find the feeling place and then see the Universe conspire to help you receive it. Oh, co-creation at its best."

Abraham on God

Though I have not read direct written readings on this topic (such may exist), I did run across a Youtube video on this topic. See this video (July 15, 2005). I have tried to paraphrase the video. Please see it yourself to form your opinion.

In it, Abraham tells a seeker (my paraphrasing could be imprecise here) that God is nothing but our collective Higher Selves. And that Abraham knows, has looked high and low, and has not found a “God” as most of the earthlings perceive this “god” principle.

Seeker’s Question: Is there a compassionate god as we imagine? A separate entity called God?

Abraham replies:

  • That which man calls god is very much different from man’s image of god.
  • God made man, but now man is remaking god in man’s image.
  • Man has this perspective of god, and tries to fit everything into it, this process creates “tremendous distortion.”
  • We are that energy; You are that energy. (Ed. “tat tvam asi”? “I am that I am” “Thou art that”?).
  • You (physical) and You (nonphysical) and the rest of us are collectively GOD.
  • God is consciousness that is expanding. For some, this is an unsettling thought.
  • Man’s image of god is supposed to be bigger, hopefully smarter, with all the answers to man’s questions.
  • Man has subverted his image of Self, in that, he has made himself much smaller, weaker, humbler etc., which is not needed.
  • In a feeling of appreciation — find a vibration that puts you into sync with your source energy – that is when you can feel “god” energy the most.
  • Most prayers offered by physical humans are vibrationally far disconnected with what they are hoping to receive. In his efforts, man enhances separation of who he is from the god he is reaching for. 1
  • Words don’t teach, you have to experience it to have that knowing.
  • You are the god of your reality, you are the creator of your world. So, don’t be humble. “Closing the gap, solving the separation, and becoming one with who you are.”
  • Don’t be humble, embrace it, start creating, and ride the wave.

So, the above is the summary I extracted from the video referred to.

NOW, My Biggest Problem with this theory that
“There is no God like how the humans perceive God. We are all connected, we are all one, we are the One, like a Borg-collective”: is that the following q. must be satisfactorily answered first.

Who made us? Or how did we come about to be in the first place? Or, can we be simply satisfied with the answer, “Nobody made us, we just are, we exist, have existed, since…forever.

Is this answer satisfactory? Is it not reminiscent of the concept of “anAdi” in vedAs, which also posits (upon careful reading) that there are two mutually irreducible categories, the Independent Real, and the Dependent Reals?

1: Elsewhere, Abraham has this to say about “separation”
“When your chronic attention is upon things that you do not want—while the chronic attention of your Inner Being is upon the things that you do want—over time, you cause a vibrational separation between you and your Inner Being, and that is what all illness is: separation (caused by your choice of thoughts) between you and your Inner Being.” Bruce Lipton, the new-age scientist, to the rescue
